Planting to begin this spring

Sulaymaniyah gardens initiative aims to cultivate 500,000 saplings and flowers

SULAYMANIYAH, January 16 — The Sulaymaniyah Directorate of Parks and Gardens is gearing up to cultivate 500,000 saplings, roses bushes, and flowers across four nurseries by the upcoming spring planting season.

With one primary nursery and three supplementary nurseries, the directorate says it has already achieved significant progress, having produced 150,000 saplings and flowers within the last two months.

Ali Hamid, spokesperson for the directorate told 964media, “Our focus is on cultivating a diverse range of various colors, including roses, rosemary, Buxus, vinca, dry pine, and lavender—all meticulously chosen to thrive in Sulaymaniyah’s climate.”

“All the trees and flowers produced will be readied for planting, specifically to enhance the boulevards and parks of Sulaymaniyah, spanning across 80 locations,” Hamid added.

As the nurseries continue to escalate their production, Hamid emphasized, “This heightened self-reliance in production signifies a shift for our directorate, reinforcing our independence in nursery cultivation.”
