Prime Minister Al-Sudani concludes productive visit to Babil province

BABIL –  Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani concluded a one-day packed visit to Babil province, south of Baghdad, as part of his ongoing provincial tours aimed at bolstering regional development.

During the visit, a series of new service projects and infrastructure improvements, totaling around 1.27 trillion Iraqi dinars (approximately $1 billion), were launched across the province.

Among the major projects is the second phase of Hilla City’s grand sewage system, which has a budget of $287 million and is now advancing into implementation. Additionally, Al-Sudani initiated a road project linking the Basra-Baghdad highway and inaugurated the Union Mills project for producing zero-grade flour, targeting an annual production capacity of one million tons.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated an expanded sugar factory capable of producing 6,000 tons of sugar daily. Additionally, facilities for extracting vegetable oils, producing plant-based feed, and a premix plant were opened.

During his visit, Al-Sudani chaired a meeting with provincial officials, directing the formation of a committee from relevant ministries to address identified issues and oversee the implementation of approved projects. He also held meetings with tribal sheiks, dignitaries of Babil province, and security leaders.

Al-Sudani’s provincial tours come as part of his government’s stated mission of providing public services and enhancing infrastructure.
