Parents appeal to UAE leader for help

Kirkuk family says their daughter was excluded from a UAE reading competition

KIRKUK, August 8 — The family of a girl from Kirkuk says that she was unfairly excluded from the list of participants in the “Challenge of Reading” competition organized by the United Arab Emirates, and want UAE Vice President Mohammed bin Rashid to intervene.

Eileen Ahmed successfully passed all stages of the test, which she took twice. She sat for the first test at the Ministry of Education, and the second at a hotel in Babil, receiving outstanding results in both rounds. She was among 25 candidates from different governorates who were prepared to participate in the 7th edition of the “Challenge of Reading” competition.

Eileen’s mother told 964:

My daughter’s name was among the 25 names, and then the UAE committee reduced the number of participants to only ten names, including Eileen. Later, we were surprised to find her excluded from the final results, and another name from a different governorate was added instead. Moreover, the alternate name had not participated in any of the stages of the test.

We submit our complaint to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and we hope he will intervene. We have evidence that Eileen excelled in all stages, as confirmed by the supervising committee of the Ministry of Education.
