Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs conveys condolences to Japan after deadly earthquake

BAGHDAD, January 2 — Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences and solidarity with the government and people of Japan on Tuesday following a deadly earthquake on New Years Day.

A statement from the ministry read:

The ministry conveyed sincere condolences and solidarity with Japan, both its government and people, in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck the central region yesterday. The earthquake caused casualties, injuries, and significant damage to buildings.

While declaring its support for Japan, the ministry extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
