Application dates announced for Baghdad’s Institute of Musical Studies

BAGHDAD, July 25 — Iraq’s Ministry of Culture announced Monday that applications to study at Baghdad’s Institute of Musical Studies would open August 15, confirming it would allocate seats to top incoming students.

A statement from the Ministry of Culture read:

“After nearly ten months of restoration and modernization, in development of the ancient Institute of Musical Studies, the Institute Council held its regular meeting today in the recently opened library.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Acting Director General of the Department of Musical Arts, Dr. Imad Jassem, chaired the meeting, whose members include the Director of the Institute, Mr. Duraid Ahmed, and a number of the teaching staff, in addition to member representatives of the Ministries of Education, Sports and Youth.

At the meeting, a plan for the new academic year was drawn up, which included updating and printing the curricula, the institute’s participation in local art festivals, as well as admissions to the Institute.

For his part, the Undersecretary stated: ‘This year will be characterized by scientific and technical openness and an increase in acceptances; August 15 has been set as the beginning of the application period for study at the Institute, after which the technical tests will be conducted for students.’

He pointed out that it is an appropriate opportunity for parents to visit the Institute, which is located at the entrance to Al-Rasheed Street, opposite Al-Sinak, to get acquainted with the beauty and atmosphere of the Institute and to communicate with the administration for the purpose of applying, and the importance of following its Facebook page to learn more.

He emphasized the inclusion of top graduate students in the application acceptances.”
