Erbil security forces arrest suspect accused of vandalizing vehicles on Eid

ERBIL — Erbil Asayish announced Wednesday the arrest of a suspect accused of damaging several citizens’ vehicles on the first day of Eid al-Adha, after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media and prompted an immediate security response.

The directorate said forces began “close monitoring and extensive investigations” immediately after the video spread, identifying the suspect through careful tracking operations before arresting him under a judicial warrant issued by the Erbil Asayish investigative judge. An investigation file has been opened and legal proceedings are underway.

The directorate thanked citizens for their cooperation, saying information provided by the public “represents a fundamental pillar in protecting the security and stability enjoyed by the city.”
