Clear skies for Eid Wednesday before dust wave sweeps central and western Iraq

BAGHDAD — Iraq will see mostly clear skies with scattered cloud on Tuesday and through Eid on Wednesday, before a medium-intensity dust wave moves across central and western areas on Friday, the General Authority for Meteorology said.

Tuesday will bring chances of light rain in the far north, with northwesterly winds of 20–30 km/h raising light dust in desert areas and temporarily reducing visibility to 5–7 km before improving in the evening. Temperatures will rise slightly in central and southern regions.

Wednesday’s Eid forecast is generally clear with some cloud and light to moderate northwesterly winds, with temperatures rising by several degrees in central and southern Iraq.

Thursday will be partly cloudy in central and northern regions and mostly clear in the south, with winds shifting to light to moderate southeasterlies and temperatures continuing to rise nationwide.

Friday will bring a return of northwesterly winds generating a medium-intensity dust wave, densest in western Iraq and parts of central areas. Temperatures will drop by several degrees in central and southern regions and a few degrees in the north, with visibility potentially falling to 2–4 km in the worst-affected areas.

Saturday is expected to stabilize with mostly clear skies, temperatures rising slightly in central Iraq and remaining steady in the north and south.
