BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met Wednesday with Turkish Ambassador Anil Bora Inan to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, with talks covering oil exports, water management, the Development Road project, security coordination and regional de-escalation efforts.

The two sides stressed the importance of supporting U.S.-Iran negotiations and “adopting diplomatic solutions and dialogue to ensure sustainable security and stability in the region and the world,” according to a statement from Zaidi’s office.

Turkey welcomed the formation of Zaidi’s government on May 14, saying Ankara would take “firm steps toward enhancing Iraq’s stability, prosperity and integration with the region.”
