Security forces arrest motorcyclists after video appears to show harassment of tourist bus
SULAYMANIYAH — Kurdistan Region security authorities announced Saturday the arrest of several individuals accused of harassing a tourist bus in Kalar overnight, after videos of the incident spread widely on social media.
The Kurdistan Region Security Agency said Garmian security forces detained the suspects “in the shortest time” after collecting information and conducting follow-up operations, and referred them for legal proceedings.
Videos circulating online showed young men on motorcycles repeatedly approaching a bus carrying Arab tourists as it traveled through Kalar’s market area, attempting to force the driver to stop while the vehicle kept moving.
While some Arabic-language social media pages described the incident as an attempt to block the bus, residents commenting online said the confrontation began after passengers allegedly threw trash from the windows, hitting the motorcyclists.
