Thunderstorms, dust and rain forecast across Iraq through Friday

BAGHDAD — Iraq faces several days of unsettled weather this week, with thunderstorms, dust activity and fluctuating temperatures expected to continue through Friday, the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring said Monday.

Monday will be partly cloudy in central and northern regions, with light to moderate thunderstorms in scattered areas intensifying at night. Southern skies will be partly cloudy with periods of clearing. Winds will be southeasterly at 10–20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h and raising dust in some areas. Visibility will range from 8–10 km, dropping to 2–7 km during rain and dust.

Tuesday will bring cloudy skies and moderate rainfall to central and northern regions, with heavier falls and thunderstorms possible in eastern central areas. The south will remain partly cloudy, with southeastern winds potentially raising dust. Temperatures will dip slightly in central and southern areas.

Wednesday will see cloudy skies and moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in the north, while central and southern regions stay partly cloudy. Winds shift to northwesterly, with temperatures rising slightly in central areas.

Thursday will be partly cloudy in central areas and cloudy in the north and south, with a chance of light rain and a slight temperature increase in central and northern regions.

Friday will turn cloudy overnight across the country, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in western central areas. Southeasterly winds may gust to 40 km/h, raising dust in central and southern regions, with temperatures rising slightly.
