Work on Tharthar Lake hopes to address water scarcity

ANBAR, July 29 — Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources began work on the banks of Lake Tharthar in Anbar on Saturday, installing stone walls and floating pumps to ensure the flow of water into the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and address water scarcity.

The Ministry issued a statement that read:

“Part of the stone cladding and installation of floating pumps in Lake al-Tharthar by the Directorate of Water Resources in eastern Anbar is done to secure water delivery to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to treat water scarcity.”
