Fog and chances of rain forecast for Tuesday
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology forecast partly cloudy conditions turning cloudy at times on Tuesday, with chances of light to moderate rainfall in parts of the country, along with cold mornings and nights and fog in some areas.
The authority said the weather will be “partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at intervals,” with chances of light rain, sometimes moderate, in scattered areas of the central and northern regions, extending overnight into the northern parts of the southern region.
The authority said moderate to dense fog is expected during morning hours in the western parts of the central region, while light fog is forecast elsewhere. Visibility could drop to 5 to 7 kilometers, and to less than 1 kilometer in areas of dense fog, before gradually improving.
Temperatures are expected to be close to Monday’s levels, with a slight rise in some places. The authority said conditions will be cold to very cold in the morning and at night and cold during the day.
Winds are forecast to be moderate southeasterly at 20 to 30 kph, shifting to light and variable in the northern region and western parts of the central region.
Looking ahead, the authority said Wednesday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rainfall in the northern region and eastern parts of the central region, with winds turning light to moderate northwesterly and temperatures generally holding steady. Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy with light to moderate northwesterly winds and slightly lower temperatures in the central and southern regions.
The authority forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather Friday with rainfall in the north, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, while Saturday is expected to bring rain in the central and northern regions, with a drop of a few degrees in the north.
