Iraq beats Sudan 2-0 to reach Arab Cup quarterfinals
BAGHDAD–Iraq’s national football team defeated Sudan 2-0 in the second round of the Arab Cup, securing a place in the tournament’s quarterfinals.
The match, held in Doha, saw forward Mohanad Ali score the opening goal in the 81st minute. Amjad Attwan added a second three minutes later.
With this result, Iraq advances to the next stage of the competition.
Iraq defeated Bahrain 2–1 in its opening match of the tournament.
The 2025 Arab Cup is being hosted by Qatar from Dec. 1 to 18, with 16 national teams competing in the tournament. It is being organized under FIFA for the second time.
