Campaign to enhance greenery by planting on the banks of the Dayr river
BASRA, November 4 — The Municipality Directorate of the City District in the northern part of Basra Governorate has launched a campaign to plant the banks of the Dayr River, a tributary of the Euphrates River, in collaboration with volunteers. The aim of the campaign is to increase vegetation cover in the area.
Atheer Al-Hajjaj, the Director of the City District Municipality, stated to Network 964:
“The campaign was carried out in partnership with the ‘Al-Amal’ volunteer team, one of the civil society organizations.
The campaign involved planting dozens of seedlings along the banks of the Dayr River in the Jannaniya area, and it will continue to cover other areas with the goal of intensifying vegetation cover.”
Murtadha Hussein, the head of the Al-Amal volunteer team, added:
“The number of seedlings planted on the banks of the Dayr River reached 90 shrubs, including various types, with Acacia being one of the prominent ones.”
