Three electrocuted while installing billboard in Kut

KUT — Three young men were killed Monday after receiving an electric shock while working on a billboard in central Kut, according to a security source.

“The incident happened when we received a report that three young men were electrocuted by a high-voltage cable in the Al-Kifah Street area on the right side of Kut while hanging a billboard for a construction and electrical materials company,” the source told 964media.

He added, “When our units arrived at Al-Karama Hospital in Kut, it was found that the three young men, born in 2000, 2005 and 2007, had come to Kut with a company specializing in billboards. They died instantly, and their colleagues transported them to the hospital.”

The initial investigation showed that the men were installing an advertisement on top of a building next to an 11,000-watt high-voltage pole. “The metal frame of the billboard touched the cable, which caused their electrocution and death,” the source said.
