Mall employee arrested in Kirkuk over theft of 80 million dinars
KIRKUK — Police in Kirkuk said Tuesday they arrested a mall employee accused of stealing 80 million Iraqi dinars — roughly $56,735 — from a large mall in the northern part of the governorate.
In a statement, Kirkuk Police said the arrest was carried out by criminal investigation units under the supervision of Police Chief Maj. Gen. Fattah Mahmoud Al-Khafaji and Director of Criminal Investigation Col. Ammar Farhan, with oversight from Rahimawa Criminal Investigation Officer Col. Omar Al-Jadir.
Authorities said the full amount was recovered during the operation and returned to the shopping center.
“During the investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the theft,” the statement said. Police did not name the individual or the mall involved.
