Man dies of electrocution days before wedding

ERBIL — A young man in Erbil died of electrocution late Wednesday while installing an air conditioner at his workplace, just days before his planned wedding celebration.

Ahmed Dazayi, 33, had recently completed his marriage contract and was preparing to hold his wedding ceremony when the fatal incident occurred at his tea shop in the city’s Mufti neighborhood.

“Late last night, my friend Ahmed was installing an air conditioner at his shop when the power cut off suddenly, and he was electrocuted,” Mohammed Ma’rouf, a close friend of the victim, told 964media.

Ma’rouf said Dazayi had been engaged only briefly. “He was excited and preparing for his wedding. Today is the first day of his funeral service,” he said.
