Al-Khanjar condemns Israeli strike on Sanaa
BAGHDAD — Khamis Al-Khanjar, head of Iraq’s Al-Siyada Party, on Tuesday condemned what he called “brutal Zionist aggression” following an Israeli airstrike on the Yemeni capital Sanaa, linking it to broader Israeli military actions across the region.
“This latest Zionist aggression on Sanaa, a city of goodness and Arab identity, is a continuation of the rampage that the Israeli occupation carries out across multiple Arab arenas,” Al-Khanjar said in a statement. He described the attack as “not merely a military strike, but a new episode in a comprehensive aggressive project” aimed at destabilizing the region.
The Israeli strike targeted Sanaa International Airport, which is controlled by Yemen’s Houthi movement, a group backed by Iran. The attack followed a Houthi missile launch on Sunday that landed near Israel’s main airport, prompting a temporary shutdown. In response, Israel also carried out an earlier airstrike Monday on the Houthi-held port city of Hodeidah.
Statement from Khamis Al-Khanjar:
We strongly condemn the brutal Zionist aggression on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, its civilian airport, and the vital port of Hodeidah—another act of entrenched criminality and terrorism by the entity tied to ongoing atrocities in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria.
This latest Zionist aggression on Sanaa, a city of goodness and Arab identity, is a continuation of the rampage that the Israeli occupation carries out across multiple Arab arenas.
What Yemen has endured is not merely a military strike, but a new episode in a comprehensive aggressive project aimed at spreading chaos and destabilizing the security of region. These repeated assaults committed by the Israeli occupation without accountability represent an existential threat that must be met with a unified Arab and international stance.
We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for these heinous crimes, which add to its dark record of aggression against Arab peoples. We call on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to end these violations and hold the usurping entity accountable for its ongoing crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.
