Three hunters arrested after returning to recapture deer fawns in Garmian

GARMIAN — Police in the Garmian autonomous administration arrested three hunters accused of capturing 10 nursing deer fawns, including two suspects detained at the exact location where the animals had been released back into the wild the previous day.

The case began around 3 a.m. Thursday in the Qoratu subdistrict, when officers pursued a group of hunters who had captured the fawns and fled, leaving the animals behind. Officers fired seven rounds during the pursuit after the hunters allegedly attempted to obstruct and attack staff with sharp tools. The 10 fawns were later released back into their natural habitat and reunited with their mothers.

Garmian Forest and Environment Police said the following day, officers monitoring the release site caught two of the suspects returning to the area with their motorcycles — apparently to hunt the fawns again. A third suspect had already been arrested under an order from the Kalar investigative court.
