Erbil authorities shut down two butcher shops and two restaurants on Iskan Street
ERBIL — The Erbil Central District Administration announced the closure of two butcher shops and two restaurants on Iskan Street on Sunday, citing non-compliance with health and safety regulations.
According to a statement from the administration, the closures took place during an inspection campaign in cooperation with Erbil security forces. The operation was part of an initiative to monitor food markets and prevent the sale of expired or unsafe food products.
The shops and restaurants were shut down for failing to meet public health, hygiene, and cleanliness standards, the administration said.
On March 18, the Erbil district administration shut down two confectionery shops after inspections found unsanitary conditions.
In mid‑February, unannounced visits by commercial inspection teams in Erbil led to the closure of 10 food warehouses, the issuance of warnings to four, and the clearance of one facility for compliance.
