Kataib Hezbollah accuses US of backing ‘war of extermination’ in Gaza

BAGHDAD — Kataib Hezbollah, an Iraqi Shiite paramilitary group and part of the so-called “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” condemned U.S. support for Israel following recent attacks on Gaza. In a statement, the group accused the United States of being a “partner” in what it called “wars of extermination” against Palestinians, citing U.S. military aid and political backing for Israel. The group vowed continued support for Palestinians, saying, “The Iraqi people will remain committed to supporting our brothers in Palestine with all available means.”

On Tuesday, Israeli forces launched airstrikes across the Gaza Strip. Palestinian health authorities reported that these strikes resulted in over 400 deaths, including women and children.

Today, Al‑Nujaba Movement, another Iranian-backed Shiite militia in Iraq, also condemned Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, describing them as a “war of extermination” and accusing Israel of “violating human rights, starving, and killing children and civilians.”

Statement from Kataib Hezbollah:

Palestine and its people have faced, and continue to face today, wars of extermination that have lasted for decades, with brutal massacres and systematic killings supported by America and Western countries in an attempt to uproot this steadfast people from their land. Betrayal-driven regimes have further worsened the situation, seeking to suffocate and eliminate the Palestinian cause in favor of the Zionist entity.

The ongoing Zionist crimes—killing children, women, and the elderly, and destroying homes over their inhabitants—are the responsibility of the United States, which fully supports this criminal entity with deadly weapons and political cover, making it a partner in every crime committed against Palestinians.

The steadfastness of the Palestinian people will not be broken despite the massacres and the cycle of killing and destruction, and it is a testament to the legitimacy of their cause and the bravery of their fighters. The Iraqi people will remain committed to supporting our brothers in Palestine with all available means, (“to establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals detest it”).
