Cosmetic clinics closed in Soran for operating without permits
SORAN — Authorities in Erbil’s Soran district shut down eight cosmetic clinics Wednesday after inspections found they were operating without permits from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Health Ministry and violating official guidelines.
A joint committee—comprising local officials, representatives from the Kurdistan Medical Control Agency, the Pharmacists Syndicate, Soran security forces, and a public prosecutor—inspected pharmacies, medical centers, clinics, and laboratories across the district. The inspections revealed that the clinics employed foreign staff without proper licensing and failed to comply with ministry regulations.
The General Directorate of Health in Soran said further inspections would continue. In addition to imposing penalties, officials plan to publicly disclose the names and locations of non-compliant facilities.
This latest enforcement action is part of an ongoing regional crackdown on cosmetic clinics. In mid-January, health authorities in Sulaymaniyah’s Raparin Administration temporarily closed three dermatology and cosmetic clinics in Ranya for similar violations. Earlier, on Jan. 7, security forces in Duhok seized four tons of expired women’s cosmetic products in two separate raids across different neighborhoods.
