Teachers’ Union demands ‘immediate’ investigation after bomb targets Diyala principal’s home
DIYALA — A bomb targeted the home of Nihad Abdul Ridha Ahmed Al-Bayati, principal of Yusuf al-Sadiq Secondary School for Boys, in Mansouriya Al-Jabal on Sunday. No injuries were reported in the attack, and police have yet to comment on the motives behind the incident.

The Diyala branch of the Teachers’ Union condemned the blast, calling it a “criminal act targeting educational staff.” Union chairman Mohammed Ali Haidar Al-Jubouri and members of the administrative board reiterated their disapproval, stating, “The Diyala Teachers’ Union strongly condemns this criminal act targeting educational staff working in the field of education.”
The union demanded “an immediate investigation to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable under the law.” It also called on authorities to “provide the necessary protection for teachers and educational staff” and urged “enhanced security measures around educational institutions and the homes of those working in the sector to ensure their safety and the continuation of the educational process without disruption.”
Expressing solidarity with Al-Bayati and his family, the union added that it stands “with all teachers in confronting such terrorist acts” and wished al-Bayati “a swift recovery if he has been harmed.”
