Organizers hope to make the bazaar a permanent fixture

Kirkuk agriculture directorate and peace ambassadors organize charity bazaar for low-income women

KIRKUK, October 12 — The Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, in collaboration with the Peace Ambassadors volunteer group, organized a charity bazaar for women with low incomes inside the directorate’s garden. Around thirty women participated, showcasing a variety of handmade products.

Participants displayed their handcrafts, which included a range of items, from traditional foods, accessories, woolen clothing, and domestic earthenware to children’s folk costumes.

Zuhair Ali, Director of the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, told 964: “It is everyone’s duty to support women, even if it’s just morally, considering the exceptional products made by women in our city. We have provided what we can here, and in the future, we will strive to support women even more.”

Intisar Kareem, Head of the Kirkuk Women Empowerment Department, said: “We hope that this bazaar will become a permanent place for displaying handmade products by women with low incomes. In Kirkuk, you can find many creative women who have developed their work, and we aim to involve them in international and local exhibitions across Iraq.”

Hanan Tawfiq, a participant in the bazaar, shared her thoughts: “This is my third time participating in the charity bazaar. I weave wool using simple raw materials into unique designs, and the prices are affordable, ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 dinars.”
