‘Southern Chants’ solo exhibition in Basra

AL BASRAH — Hamed Said Gallery hosted “Southern Chants,” the first solo exhibition by artist Nibras Hashem. The exhibit attracted artists and cultural figures from various cities, marking a significant cultural event in Basrah.

Nibras Hashem, Visual Artist told 964media: “This is my first visit to Basrah, and I decided it should be more than just a passing stop; I aimed to make a significant impact. Especially considering that the Basrah audience is deeply interested in art and culture. For the past four years, I have been focusing on the Southern Iraqi identity, exploring how to artistically document it so that it stands out in international exhibitions as an identity that represents us.”

Artist Nasser Samari told 964media :”In recent years, Basrah’s beautiful face has begun to re-emerge, thanks to numerous cultural, entertainment, and artistic venues. One of these key venues is the gallery of artist Hamed Said. Attracting artists from Baghdad and other provinces to Basrah is a significant precedent that heralds great promise. It forms the foundation for a deeply rooted cultural awareness.”

Hamed Said, Visual Artist and Gallery Owner said that his gallery’s artistic and cultural program includes hosting solo and group exhibitions, as well as artistic and cultural evenings.

“Today, the gallery is proud to host a solo exhibition titled ‘Southern Chants’ celebrating artist Nibras Hashem. This exhibition beautifully portrays the marshlands, reflecting the splendid image that Iraq’s marshes embody.”
