Drilling company completes horizontal well at East Baghdad field
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi Drilling Company has finished a 4,152-metre horizontal well in the southern part of the East Baghdad field with China’s EBS and oilfield services company COSL, the Oil Ministry said.
The EBS-157 well is one of 17 the company is drilling under a contract with EBS to develop the field. It was drilled with the IDC-36 rig, rated at 1,500 horsepower, reaching an inclination of 90.31 degrees under a programme designed for horizontal drilling and the field’s geology.
Director general Mohammed Hantoush Asad al-Zirjawi said the state-owned company holds rigs of varying capacity and Iraqi staff with accumulated experience in drilling and workover operations, and is equipped for vertical, directional and horizontal drilling at different depths.
