Sticky bomb injures Sunni PMF commander in Al-Qaim
ANBAR — A Popular Mobilization Forces commander was seriously injured Wednesday when a sticky bomb exploded inside his vehicle while on duty in Al-Qaim, western Anbar, according to a statement from the PMF.
Salam Al-Mahlawi, commander of the Third Regiment in the 57th Brigade, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, the statement said.
A security source told 964media that the blast, which occurred on Youth Center Street across from the Al-Qaim Municipality building, also injured two other personnel.
According to the security source, “Al-Mahlawi lost one of his legs due to the explosion.”
Al-Mahlawi serves as a commander within the Tribal Mobilization Forces — Sunni tribal units operating under the PMF structure.
Security forces have launched an investigation into the attack.
