Baghdad Crime Directorate busts criminal gang involved in assault, theft, and extortion
BAGHDAD — The Baghdad Crime Directorate has announced the arrest of a criminal gang responsible for luring and assaulting a citizen, stealing his belongings, and attempting to extort him.
In a statement, the directorate reported that the gang used a woman to lure the victim to a house where he was severely beaten by a group of individuals. “They stole his car and personal phone, then photographed him in a compromising situation in a bedroom to extort money from him,” the statement said.
The suspects were arrested in the act, and the stolen car and phone were recovered.
“Confronted with the evidence, the suspects collapsed and openly confessed to their crime,” the statement added. The perpetrators are now in custody, ensuring justice is served as they await further legal proceedings.
