Al-Maliki, President Rashid emphasize ‘national unity’ amid ongoing regional challenges

BAGHDAD — The Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid on Tuesday in Baghdad to discuss political and economic developments, emphasizing the importance of “unified national efforts” to safeguard Iraq’s sovereignty, enhance stability, and address regional challenges through cooperation and adherence to constitutional principles, according to a statement from Al-Maliki’s media office.

This is part of several recent visits by the President Rashid to various political and parties leaders. On Sunday, he met with Hadi Al-Amiri, secretary general of the Badr Organization, in Baghdad to discuss the country’s political, security, and economic developments, according to a statement from Al-Amiri’s media office.

Although Nouri Al-Maliki stepped down as prime minister a decade ago, he continues to play a significant role in Iraqi politics. His State of Law Coalition, the largest Shia parliamentary bloc with 38 seats, is a key member of the Shia Coordination Framework.
