BAGHDAD — The first night of Baghdad’s vibrant circus festival kicked off on Thursday at Al-Zawra Park with a crowd of 1,500 attendees, marking the beginning of a six-month event organized by Marasim Company.

The festival features performances by teams from 40 countries, including acrobatics, dance, magic tricks, and clown acts designed to entertain audiences of all ages.

“Baghdad Circus is an extension of Baghdad Day activities, which began on Oct. 11. This event is the first of its kind in Iraq,” said Ali Mahdi, Marketing Manager of Marasim Company, in an interview with 964media.

Mahdi added that preparations took three months to ensure the festival’s success. Evening shows have begun, and morning sessions will open after the New Year to accommodate students.

Ticket prices range from 10,000 to 50,000 IQD ($7 to $33), while children under four years enter for free.

Visitors expressed their excitement about the event, Hadeel Mohammed, one of the attendees, shared her experience: “We saw wonderful performances and a great turnout of Iraqi families. Events like this bring smiles and joy to everyone.”

Another attendee, Wud Raed, echoed the sentiment, “The atmosphere inside Baghdad Circus is beautiful. I came with my family and children to enjoy these moments. Iraq needs more events like this for families and children to create lasting memories.”
