Meeting between Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister and UN Special Representative

ERBIL, September 30 — Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, met with the United Nations Special Representative, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in Erbil on Saturday. They emphasized the necessity of holding the Kurdistan Parliament elections as scheduled on February 25, 2024.

A statement from Barzani’s office, received by Network 964, read:

“Today, September 30, 2023, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received the United Nations Special Representative in Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments and updates regarding the overall situation in Iraq, as well as the importance of ensuring the constitutional and financial rights of the Kurdistan Region. In another context, both parties exchanged views on the situation in the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the need to conduct the Kurdistan Parliament elections on their scheduled date of February 25, 2024.”
