Over 2,000 new doctors receive postings across Iraq

BAGHDAD, September 19 — Iraq’s Ministry of Health announced new assignments on Monday for over 2,000 doctors who graduated in recent years, according to a mechanism developed by the organization’s Planning Department.

A statement from the Ministry read:

Under the supervision and follow-up of the Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Mehdi Al-Hasnawi, the assignment of doctors from the year 2020 and subsequent years commenced today, Monday, September 18, 2023. The distribution was carried out in the presence of Dr. Ali Karim, Deputy Director-General of Planning, and representatives from the Doctors Syndicate.

Dr. Ahmed Abu Rgaif, the Director of the Workforce Development Department at the Ministry of Health, stated that the number of doctors to be assigned is over 2,000 doctors, according to a mechanism developed by the Planning Department at the Ministry of Health.

He further added that they were assigned in batches, with the first batch covering three governorates: Salah Al-Din, Diyala, and Wasit. The distribution took into consideration the healthcare institutions’ needs in terms of quantity and specialization.

The assignment process was carried out smoothly, and all doctors expressed their satisfaction.
