Gunmen in military uniforms kill family of five in Samarra, set home ablaze

SAMARRA – Gunmen dressed in military uniforms stormed a residence in Samarra’s Abbasiyah area, killing all five family members, including three children. Following the murders, the attackers set the home on fire and escaped in an unknown direction, a security source reported.

In response, security forces have initiated a manhunt that led to apprehend several suspects  in connection with the tragic incident.

Brig. Gen. Muqdad Meri, a spokesman for the Security Media Cell, announced that Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has ordered the creation of an investigative committee, led by the Deputy Minister for Police Affairs, to investigate the circumstances of the attack. “The committee has already begun its work,” confirmed Meri.

In a statement, the Security Media Cell reported that intensive intelligence and security efforts have led to significant developments in the investigation of the incident. The authorities have identified key leads and arrested several individuals suspected of involvement in the crime.

“Initial information and available evidence suggest that the incident was of a criminal nature. Investigations and inquiries are ongoing to reach final conclusions in order to hold the perpetrators accountable and bring them to justice,” the statement read.
