Four relatives drown in Basra water pool

BASRA – Three siblings, including a girl, and their cousin drowned Tuesday evening while swimming in a water pool in the Burjisiya area of Basra’s Al-Zubair district, a security source reported.

The victims, three siblings aged 18 and 14, along with their 8-year-old cousin, were swimming in a deep-water pool when the tragedy occurred. Authorities have since transferred the bodies to the forensic department.

“The police have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident,” the source informed 964media.

This incident echoes a similar tragedy in mid-June in the Raparin administration, Sulaymaniyah, where five family members drowned. In that case, a child fell into a pond, leading his father and three other relatives to jump in to help, but all five perished.
