Local campaign raises $10,000 for bus owner

NEWSROOM — Local philanthropists in the Khalakan area near Sulaymaniyah have raised approximately $10,000 to aid the owner of a bus that was destroyed by fire.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, involved a bus catching fire from a gas tank explosion while traveling on the Dukan-Ranya Road. Fortunately, the driver, an Erbil resident, escaped without injuries.

In response, young volunteers from Khalakan initiated a fundraising campaign, quickly garnering support from the community. Halabast Haji, a member of the campaign, expressed their collective commitment to aiding the victim. “We felt it was our duty to provide some support to our brother whose car burned in our area,” Haji told 964media. He also thanked everyone who contributed swiftly to the cause.
