Baghdad-Fallujah train service resumes

BAGHDAD, September 11 — The Ministry of Transport announced on Monday that daily train services for passengers on the Baghdad-Fallujah route would resume this week, emphasizing the railway as a fast and safe more of transportation.

A statement issued by the Ministry explained that Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Muheibis Al-Saadi, directed authorities to expedite resuming train trips between Baghdad and Fallujah. The General Company for Railways mobilized efforts to resume passenger train service to transport students, public-sector workers, and citizens.

The first train is scheduled to depart from Fallujah Train Station to Baghdad on Thursday at 6:45 a.m., with a return trom Baghdad Central Station to Fallujah at 5:00 p.m. Service on Fridays and official holidays will begin from Fallujah at 9:00 a.m., with a return from Baghdad at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices are expected to be lower compared to other means of transportation.

The Baghdad-Fallujah line has been suspended since 2019 for various reasons, including trespassing and illegal crossings, which caused delays of more than 45 minutes for passengers.
