Amid ongoing health inspections

Two pharmacies closed in Duhok after smuggled medicines found

DUHOK – The Directorate of Pharmaceutical Products Quality Control in Duhok has shut down two pharmacies after discovering illegal medicines inside them.

A source from the Duhok Pharmacy Inspection Committee told 964media that smuggled medicines were found concealed in the ceilings of the two pharmacies. These medicines were intended for distribution in the market. The health team “immediately confiscated the medicines and closed the pharmacies,” the source, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

Over the past two weeks, approximately two tons of smuggled medicines have been confiscated in Duhok province. The source added that inspections would continue.

The pharmacy owners have been charged with importing and distributing smuggled medicines and have been referred to court for investigation.
