BAGHDAD — Bronze Gallery in Al-Waziriyah, Baghdad, held its annual joint sculpture exhibition titled “The Meaning… What if Bodies Shed Their Appearance?” The exhibition featured the works of 13 sculptors and focused on displaying the wire structures of sculptures, celebrating the “foundation structure” rather than the final form.

Aliya Abdul Nasser, Director of Bronze Gallery, told 964media, “This might be a rare experience on a global level, as an official exhibition of wire structures. It was my idea, and I invited some of the most prominent sculptors in Iraq, who engaged with the concept and executed it in their unique styles.”

Bronze Gallery has a tradition of seeking new and distinctive approaches in its exhibitions, along with an emphasis on displays that carry humanitarian messages and goals, according to its director.

“The message of this exhibition is to focus on essence rather than appearance, as it is the foundation of existence. This idea was novel and unprecedented in the scope of exhibitions in Iraq and globally,” Abdul Nasser added.

The event saw significant engagement from artists and garnered attention from sculptors and visual artists alike. It broke away from conventional sculptural and display norms, showcasing diversity in the forms presented and the methods of conceptualizing and executing ideas through wire structures alone.
