Prices in Hilla’s markets stabilize after conclusion of Arbaeen pilgrimage

BABIL, September 7 — Normalcy returned to Hilla’s bustling market on Thursday following the conclusion of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, with the voices of vendors selling vegetables and fruits sounding once again, and noticeable price decreases.

Prices in the Hilla market have reverted to normal levels after a significant surge during the Arbaeen pilgrimage due to high demand from procession participants for fruits and vegetables.

Muneer Abdulaziz, a vegetable stall owner, stated, “Today, the market is very calm, and there is demand for vegetables and fruits after a halt of more than two days due to the Arbaeen pilgrimage.”

In general, prices have decreased by nearly half after the conclusion of the pilgrimage, except for okra, which has maintained its price.

Prices listed on Thursday included:

3 kg of potatoes: 2,000 Iraqi dinars.
1 kg of okra: 5,000 Iraqi dinars.
1 kg of cucumbers: 750 Iraqi dinars.
1 kg of eggplants: 500 Iraqi dinars.
1 kg of onions: 500 Iraqi dinars.
1 kg of oranges, bananas, and apples: 1,250 Iraqi dinars.
mangoes: 4,000 Iraqi dinars.
