Al-Sudani outlines new development projects for Anbar Province

ANBAR – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani unveiled several infrastructure projects for Anbar province during a meeting on Wednesday with department directors.

The initiatives include the development of new sewage and sanitation systems for Anah and Kubaisa, funded with over 2 billion dinars [approximately $1.5 million], as well as the establishment of two hospitals in Khalidiya and Fallujah districts.

The meeting, held at the Anbar provincial building and attended by Anbar Governor Mohammed Nouri Al-Karbouli, delved into a comprehensive review of provincial plans, service programs, and sector projects, addressing primary challenges and obstacles hindering project progression. Directives were issued to monitor and promptly resolve these issues to meet established deadlines.
Since assuming office in October 2022, the prime minister has embarked on visits to various provinces to promote the implementation of his government’s program, focusing on public services and infrastructure development.

The meeting in Anbar shed light on projects undertaken by the Fund for the Reconstruction of Areas Affected by Terrorism, aligning with government priorities. Furthermore, the session addressed the status of martyrs and victims of terrorism, emphasizing the importance of fair distribution of funds to genuine beneficiaries, with the head of the Martyrs Foundation in attendance.

Al-Sudani praised the sacrifices made by Anbar’s citizens and their collaboration with security forces in the fight against terrorism. He highlighted the region’s transition towards development and reconstruction, pledging support for local government efforts to facilitate effective governance.

Additionally, Al-Sudani announced the commencement of the wheat marketing season across Iraq from Anbar, emphasizing the timely payment of last year’s dues, which has boosted farmers’ confidence for future planting seasons.

During his Anbar visit, Al-Sudani also inspected a hybrid power plant under construction in Al-Forat district, which is expected to produce 1640 megawatts of electricity upon completion. The power plant will primarily rely on natural gas from the nearby Okaz gas field.
