Suspects in Kirkuk robbery pose as security forces, make off with nearly $100K in cash and gold

KIRKUK — Three unidentified gunmen, allegedly impersonating security personnel, raided a home in Kirkuk’s Wasit neighborhood under the pretext of a search for narcotics. According to a local security source who spoke to 964media, the suspects arrived at the location in a large SUV.

The homeowner was confined to a small room while the assailants looted approximately $60,000 and a significant amount of gold estimated at 50 million Iraqi dinars ($38,000). The suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.

Kirkuk Police has initiated an investigation, reviewing surveillance footage from the area to gather information about the individuals involved in the incident.
