Al-Sudani orders relief aid for Dohuk

DUHOK — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has announced that relief efforts are underway to aid the victims of the floods in Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province.

Al-Sudani’s statement follows significant damage inflicted upon Duhok province by heavy floods on March 18. The prime minister has tasked the federal Ministry of Interior with providing necessary assistance in response to the crisis, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s office.

Al-Sudani also dispatched Brigadier General Qais Mohammedawi, Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Joint Operations, to Duhok to establish a framework for delivering relief and support to those affected by the floods in the region.

The devastating rainstorm that struck Duhok on Monday resulted in over 200mm of rainfall within 48 hours. As a result, numerous fatalities occurred, and dozens of homes sustained damage, according to local authorities.
