Sulaymaniyah security forces expand apartment rental permissions for unmarried individuals

SULAYMANIYAH, August 23 — Security forces in Sulaymaniyah announced that unmarried individuals, including those from central and southern Iraq, will now be allowed to rent apartments in the governorate without providing proof of employment.

Previously, residential projects in Sulaymaniyah did not permit unmarried individuals to rent apartments unless they provided proof of emploment and received consent from the local Asayish security office.

Salam Abdul Khaliq, spokesperson for Sulaymaniyah Asayish, told 964: “As per the new directive from the Sulaymaniyah Security Directorate, unmarried individuals in Kurdistan are now allowed to rent houses or apartments even if they do not possess work approval. However, if they are citizens from outside the region, they require permission from our directorate.”
