Darbandikhan intensifies crackdown on illegally parked trucks

DARBANDIKHAN — Traffic authorities in Darbandikhan are cracking down on trucks parked illegally in streets and parks, vowing to continue their efforts until the issue is resolved.

The Darbandikhan Traffic Department launched a city-wide campaign targeting vehicles parked in prohibited areas, following complaints from residents about damage to roads and public spaces. The initiative involves collaboration with the Darbandikhan police, industry, and environment departments.

Suleiman Mohammed, Darbandikhan’s qaymaqam, told 964media that authorities have responded to citizen complaints by instructing traffic units to search for and penalize illegally parked trucks throughout the city’s neighborhoods and streets.

According to Mohammed, trucks have designated parking garages within the city, but drivers still park illegally, taking up valuable space and causing disturbances.

“Parking on main streets within the market area is specifically prohibited because of incidents when trucks damaged infrastructure, including damaging trees because the streets cannot accommodate their size,” he said, adding that an order has been issued for the arrest of drivers violating these rules.

The Darbandikhan campaign is being expanded to also enforce rules against cars and motorcycles obstructing access near schools.

These initiative follows similar measures taken in the Said Sadiq district, where a dedicated parking garage was established outside residential areas and fines were implemented for non-compliant drivers starting Feb. 18.

Said Saqid qaymaqam Reza Mohammed spoke to 964media then about growing complaints from residents regarding parking, traffic obstructions, and potential risk of accidents.

The majority of the targeted vehicles include oil tankers, gasoline tankers, and those transporting goods. Authorities aim to address resident concerns and improve traffic flow through stricter enforcement of parking regulations.
