Warm welcome for new U.S. Consul General in Erbil
ERBIL, August 21 — The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Foreign Relations Department, Safeen Dizayee, extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed U.S. Consul General, Mark Stroh, in Erbil on Sunday.
Stroh previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Media in the U.S. State Department. Before his diplomatic role, he held positions in various media organizations and worked in Iraqi cities including Basra and Hillah. He also served as the U.S. Consul General in Karachi, Pakistan.
In a social media post translated by 964, Dizayee wrote:
We welcome Mr. Mark Stroh, the new Consul General of the United States. We engaged in fruitful discussions about the current situation in the Kurdistan region, the United States, our strong bilateral relations, and partnership. We assured Mr. Stroh of our support during his tenure and wished him every success.
The KRG held a farewell ceremony on August 15 for the outgoing U.S. Consul General Irvin Hicks Jr., as his term came to an end. Hicks emphasized his enduring friendship with the Kurds and stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among political parties.
