Rawanduz’s Bekhal resort set for rebuild with existing amenities to be demolished

RAWANDUZ — The Bekhal tourist area in Rawanduz’s Soran Autonomous Administration will undergo a modern redevelopment plan, with officials pledging to safeguard local business interests.

“Bekhal will be redesigned with a new tourism master plan. We have previously held several meetings with restaurant and shop owners in Bekhal to inform them about the project. Implementation will begin in the near future,” said Parez Yousif, director of tourism in Rawanduz, speaking to 964media.

Yousif explained that restaurants, hotels, motels, shops, and cafes in the area will be demolished and reconstructed with modern designs. He noted that Bekhal is government-owned public property, but assured existing business owners they will maintain their operations once redevelopment is complete.

Last renovated in 2017, Bekhal is a prominent tourist destination in the Kurdistan region. Located in the mountainous Rawanduz district, it attracts visitors from across Iraq, especially during the hot summer months and snowy winter season.
