KRG seeks easier access for Kurdish students to Greek universities

Erbil – The Kurdistan Regional Government has called on the new Consul General of Greece in the Kurdistan Region to facilitate the admission process for Kurdish students aspiring to study in Greece.

During a meeting with Nikolaos Stergioulas, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani articulated the request, stressing the importance of increasing the admission of Kurdish students into Greek higher education institutions.

Following the meeting, a statement was released indicating that Talabani expressed the Kurdistan Region’s eagerness to attract Greek investment in sectors such as agriculture and tourism, as well as to import Greece’s successful models and practices into the region.

In the previous year, Greece extended around 200 master’s scholarship offers to students from the Kurdistan Region. These scholarships covered various fields, with tuition fees ranging between three to five thousand euros for humanities and exceeding five thousand euros for medical programs.
