Third case this month
More sabotage of fiber optic cabinets in Baghdad
BAGHDAD — The Ministry of Communications said Wednesday that fiber optic cabinets in Baghdad’s Rusafa area have been vandalized three times this month in Habibiya, Baladiyat, and Amin.
The ministry’s press office issued a statement outlining the sabotage to the General Company for Communications and Informatics infrastructure.
This infrastructure supports a project to provide internet service through Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology.
The statement attributed the vandalism to groups hostile to the country and its people, particularly after the fiber optic projects’ considerable success and positive reception across all provinces and regions where the projects are in place.
The ministry urges security forces to protect the state-owned communications infrastructure and to apprehend and prosecute those damaging public property.
