Officials hold planning meeting

Hajj registration to open soon for citizens in the Kurdistan region

ERBIL, August 18 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced Thursday that registration for the Hajj pilgrimage will open soon.

The General Directorate of Hajj and Umrah released a statement in which it said officials from relevant government agencies met to discuss plans for the 2024 Hajj season.

“Several suggestions were presented to ensure that the registration process for pilgrims is carried out in an orderly manner and that all citizens can register for the Hajj process in the shortest time and in the easiest way,” the statement said.

Last season, 4,685 citizens from the Kurdistan region performed the Hajj in Saudi Arabia, 690 of whom traveled overland. The Directorate further reported that four pilgrims died while on the pilgrimage.
