Education Ministry announces completion of 35 new schools for upcoming year

BAGHDAD – Iraq’s Ministry of Education has completed 35 school buildings in preparation for the upcoming school year, with more than 500 new and renovated schools expected to be ready by the end of 2024, according to ministry spokesperson Karim Sayyid.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency, Sayyid detailed that these schools are part of the “my school is the most beautiful” campaign, which aims to renovate old and dilapidated buildings to “provide a better school atmosphere.”

The government also plans to complete an additional 4,000 new and renovated schools by the end of 2024 through the “Chinese Project,” an agreement between Iraq and China involving construction overseen by Chinese firms.
